MAKING MUSIC MATTER

MAKING MUSIC MATTER

2024 Marks 10 Years of Making Music Matter

Here we share a special story of a family Music24 has had the pleasure of working with over the last year - The Permutt Family.

Pamela was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 30 years ago and in recent years sadly developed Dementia too. Music24 has been providing 1:1 music therapy sessions in the Permutt family home, allowing Pamela to enjoy moments of connection with her husband, Jeffrey, and her carers, who also join in the fun. During the school holidays, Pamela's grandchildren join the music-making sessions and in this short film they share their love of making special memories with their Grandma.

Music24 is a leading community music charity, working to support people affected by ill-health and/or disability. We use the power of music to transform lives by reducing loneliness and isolation, improving wellbeing and building confidence, whilst providing vital social support networks. We specialise in working with people living with mental health issues, learning disabilities, the elderly and frail, and people living with dementia and their carers. Music24 currently make live music with 450+ people every year across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

How we can help

Our music therapists and community musicians provide an important space for adults living with a range of conditions or illnesses to have moments of social connection. They also give them the chance for a much-needed creative outlet.

"thank you!"

“Music24 has given me something to look forward to again and helped me beat the Stroke. I look forward to every session and the team are fantastic. I can’t put into words what this has done for me, thank you!”
