We’re always looking for people to help us run our musical groups or support our charity. You don’t need to be a trained musician to help us make a difference to people’s lives.

There are a number of volunteering roles that we have available, see below. If you’re interested in any one of them then please get in touch by filling in our short form at the bottom of this page.

Session support worker

This role is a very important part to what makes Music24 successful. We need open-minded and caring people to support the main thread of work in our sessions. Support Workers need to leave their inhibitions at the door and allow themselves to be ‘silly’ within the music, so a good sense of humour is a must! This allows others to ‘let go’ themselves.
A Session Support Worker will be expected to: assist facilitators in setting up and setting down, welcome participants to the sessions and help them get seated and settled, assist people with tea and coffee (if applicable), join in and encourage participants to remain engaged in the musical activity, prompt and assist participants where needed, be happy, enthused and vibrant in order to create a positive environment for the participants, and most of all – you should be able to listen... Our clients often need someone to talk to, so the ability to listen well and empathise is essential.

Fundraising support

We’re always looking for people to help us raise funds for our much needed work! We need dynamic people that are hard-working and innovative in order to keep up with the latest fundraising tactics.
If you would like to offer your support in leading a fundraising event, such as a concert or sponsored walk, or simply take part in a street collection on Music24’s behalf, then please get in touch.

Community musician

Community Musicians should ideally play Piano or Guitar sufficiently enough to lead on an exercise. They support the Music Therapist and/or Lead Facilitator(s) in running the session. Being proficient in singing and drumming is also an added bonus. We require people who can change quickly between rhythms and pace in order to adapt to the ever-growing music as the sessions unfold. It is hoped that potential Community Musicians can play in various different styles, are open to feedback and can work well within a group setting. The ability to listen to others whilst making music is essential.
A lot of what Music24 does during our sessions is based around improvisation and making music ‘in the moment’. We can advise on top Music Therapy books to read and websites to visit and give training in order to help you master your technique whilst supporting other people in music.

Organisational support

This support could come in the form of day-to-day admin work, offering your skills as an accountant, helping to fill in funding application forms or networking and attending local meetings on our behalf.
Please detail your skills and experience in the application form or email us to talk more about how you could help.
